Numeracy
The College is currently developing a numeracy plan. Just as with literacy, we are implementing a common approach to teaching numeracy so that the students receive a “Nyangatjatjara College” approach. We see this as important so that regardless of the campus/community, students will receive similar experiences in numeracy. “First Steps in Numeracy” provides the basis from which the numeracy plan works. As Anangu people have a strong sense of space and not a strong need for number as in Western society (other than with money), we use these knowledges as the basis for the curriculum and then build from these ways of working into the standard curriculum expectations.
